Our CDT runs a variety of events throughout the year, targeted at different audiences. Below you can find the information about our upcoming events and register to attend. AI for Infectious Diseases Research (AI4IDR)Date: 24th August 10:00-13:30Venue: Informatics Forum EH8 9ABYou are warmly invited to a joint event hosted by Edinburgh Infectious Diseases and the AI CDT in Biomedical Innovation (AI4BI), bringing together infectious disease researchers and AI experts from across the University of Edinburgh. It aims to foster connections and inspire collaborations between researchers from both communities, creating opportunities to learn about each other's expertise, share research challenges, and identify areas where AI approaches can help advance infectious disease science. Through short talks, networking, and collaborative discussions, participants will be encouraged to explore common interests and develop new interdisciplinary partnerships. Pandemic preparedness and antimicrobial resistance are some of the most pressing problems for which large and complex data offer new research opportunities. The event will allow delegates to explore these opportunities, from providing an introduction to this research landscape to an opportunity to pitch projects. A key objective of the event is to catalyse the development of collaborative PhD projects in the AI4BI CDT and other research initiatives that combine world-leading expertise in infectious diseases with cutting-edge methods in machine learning, data science, and AI, to improve human health. Whether you are an infectious disease researcher seeking new computational approaches or an AI researcher looking to tackle important biomedical challenges, this event offers an opportunity to build collaborations and shape future research directions together. Registration closes 10 August. Bringing together expertise from computer science, mathematics, statistics, clinical sciences and biomedical research, the CDT supports interdisciplinary PhD projects and fosters collaborations that translate cutting-edge AI methods into real-world biomedical and healthcare applications. Edinburgh Infectious Diseases Edinburgh Infectious Diseases is a cross-institutional network that connects over 900 researchers and clinicians working on infectious diseases across Edinburgh. Bringing together expertise from basic science, clinical medicine, veterinary science, public health and social science, the network promotes collaboration, training and knowledge exchange to address major infectious disease challenges of local and global importance.
